2024 GVFD Members of the Year

The City of Granbury Congratulates...

...four members of the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department for their outstanding contributions. (Pictured above, left to right) Carter Chance earned Rookie of the Year, an award voted on by the entire department. David Lowery was named Firefighter of the Year and received a traditional leather firefighter’s helmet. Jacob Guiterrez received the Officers Award, chosen by the Captains for his exemplary service and dedication. Colin Pieren was presented with the Chief’s Award in recognition of his commitment and promising future in the fire service.

New Master Firefighters

...and congratulations to...

...newly certified "Master Firefighters" Bob Haggard, Operations/IT Captain (left), and Steve Wiley, Station 2 Captain. Master firefighter certification is awarded by the State Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas and held by only 524 of the approximately 34,000 firefighters in Texas. It requires Firefighter II credentials, 400 hours of advanced training across five key areas, and at least 10 years of service. GVFD now has FOUR Master-certified officers.

Thank you!

Almost $7,600 was collected by Hood County volunteer firefighters for Hood County Christmas for Children.
