SCAM ALERT

Communications & News Releases Posted on August 01, 2024 | Last Updated on August 01, 2024

There have been reports of scammers posing as City of Granbury employees. To protect yourself from falling victim to these scams, follow these guidelines:

-Ask for Identification: If someone claims to be a city employee, request to see their official identification badge. Legitimate city employees will have no problem providing this.

-Verify by Contacting the City: If you’re uncertain about someone’s identity, contact the City of Granbury directly at 817-573-1114. Avoid using any contact information provided by the individual claiming to be an employee.

-Be Cautious of Unsolicited Contact: Be wary of unexpected visits, phone calls, emails, or letters from individuals claiming to represent the city. Legitimate city services usually schedule visits in advance. Make sure any communication is from a verified city email address or phone number, as scammers may try to mimic official communication channels.

-Be Suspicious of Requests for Personal Information or Payments: City employees will never demand immediate payment or sensitive personal information on the spot. Treat any such requests with suspicion.

-Report Suspicious Activity: If you encounter someone who claims to be a City employee but you suspect they may be a scammer, notify the Police immediately at 817-573-2648.

By staying alert and verifying claims before taking action, you can protect yourself from scams involving individuals posing as City of Granbury employees.
