[ARCHIVED] City Council Votes to Extend Building Moratorium 180 Days

Map

The Granbury City Council voted unanimously to extend the City’s moratorium on new permitting and building on the City’s east side for another 180 days during the April 6 City Council meeting. The new ruling, Ordinance Number 21-23, extends the current moratorium (which started Dec. 14, 2020) through Oct. 5, 2021.

“As you know, we’re currently in a moratorium on our sewer facilities on the eastern side of town, and it’s come to the point where we need to renew that,” said Granbury City Manager Chris Coffman at the meeting.

The moratorium extension was needed because the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has not yet approved the City’s permit for a new wastewater treatment plant for the City’s east side. The City submitted the permit in June 2020.

“We’re still waiting on the state (TCEQ) ... for our permit, but in the meantime, we’ve halted all development in the area with the continuation of this moratorium,” said Granbury Public Works Director Rick Crownover.
