We urge the citizens of Hood County and the surrounding cities to do their part in protecting their community from COVID-19. As we move into the holidays, there is an increased risk of exposure to COVID-19 due to the gatherings of family and friends. Hood County has already begun to see a SUBSTANTIAL increase in positive COVID-19 tests and the number of positive cases are on the rise.
We urge you to continue your efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other influenza-like illnesses as we enter flu season in order to keep our community at work and school. The local ISD's are diligently working to continue in-person education for its students. There are a number of ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19; these include:
- If it is not feasible to maintain six feet of social distance, wear a mask or face covering when going out in public.
- Consistent handwashing with soap and water, as well as the use of hand sanitizer.
- Frequently cleaning and disinfecting regularly touched objects and surfaces.
- Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, and then promptly washing your hands.
- Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
- Remember that some people without symptoms can still spread the virus.
- Stay at home when you are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Additionally, please do your part in stopping the spread of unsubstantiated information. Three easy ways to do this are:
1. Don't believe rumors.
2. Don't pass along rumors.
3. Go to trusted sources for information regarding COVID-19 and the local and federal responses.
At this time, our local leadership is not considering any community shutdowns. Everyone's cooperation in following these guidelines is appreciated. Thank you for doing your part to keep your community safe.
