COVID-19/Coronavirus Information Update

The Hood County Public Health Authority has reported the first confirmed COVID-19-related death of a Hood County resident.

One Hood County resident diagnosed with COVID-19 died on Thursday, April 2. The deceased was a man in his sixties with preexisting health complications. No further identifying information will be publicly released; public health authorities and family members have been notified.

Many people are working diligently in the Granbury and Hood County communities to protect the health and safety of all residents during this incredibly difficult time. The entire City of Granbury family, elected officials, staff, and volunteers alike, feel the tragedy of this first fatality in our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.

Hood County COVID-19 test results to date 

As of 5:00 p.m. on April 2, 143 total COVID-19 tests have been reported for Hood County residents, with eight (8) positive cases, 79 negative, and 55 pending laboratory confirmation. One has fully recovered and has been released from isolation.

Where did these people contract COVID-19?

Four people are believed to have contracted the highly contagious virus from travel, two from work contacts in Dallas-Fort Worth area, and the other two contracted the illness from infected family members.

With the exception of the recovered patient, all COVID-19 positive patients and contacts under investigation who are not hospitalized remain isolated at home in accordance with public health guidelines.
