[ARCHIVED] City of Granbury COVID-19 Update: March 25, 2020

COVID-19/Coronavirus Information Update

Resolution No. 20-04, Amending the Declaration of Disaster

At the March 25, 2020 Granbury City Council Emergency Meeting, the City Council voted unanimously in favor of Resolution No. 20-04, amending the Declaration of Disaster issued by Mayor Hulett on March 19, 2020. The following, among other items, goes into effect March 25, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. and remains in effect until it is rescinded, superseded or amended pursuant to applicable law. Please see the full declaration for all details.

  • Individuals are to stay at home. However, individuals may leave their residences for essential travel, essential activities, or to provide or perform essential governmental functions, or to operate essential businesses. This includes traveling to work at an essential business, traveling for the health of yourself or another person, leaving to get food and supplies, or getting outside to exercise.
  • To the extent individuals are using shared or outdoor spaces, they must maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet from any other person. This does not require a household or living unit to social distance when at home.
  • Essential businesses such as grocery stores, pharmacies and other establishments that sell household goods will remain open but must enforce social distancing. A list of essential and non-essential businesses is in the declaration.
  • In-house dining at restaurants is prohibited. Restaurants with or without drive-in or drive-through services; drive-in restaurants; drive-through restaurants; liquor stores; and microbreweries, micro-distilleries, or wineries may only provide take out, delivery, or drive-in or drive-through services, as allowed by law.
  • All businesses operating within the City of Granbury, except essential businesses, are required to close to the public.
  • Businesses that are closed to the public may continue operations consisting exclusively of the following, as long as social distancing of a least 6 feet is maintained between all employees and contractors during the activities:
    • Performing activities at their own residences (i.e. working from home);
    • Operations necessary to maintain security, upkeep and maintenance of premises, equipment or inventory, including, but not limited to, the care and maintenance of livestock or animals;
    • I.T. or other operations that facilitate employees working from home;
    • Facilitate online or call-in sales performed by employees in a store or facility closed to the public;
    • In-store repair services performed by employees in a store or facility closed to the public.
  • All public or private gatherings of any number of people occurring outside a single household or living unit are prohibited. This declaration does not prohibit the gathering of members of a household or living unit.
  • All elective medical procedures are prohibited.
  • If someone in a household has tested positive for COVID-19, the household is ordered to isolate at home.
  • All in-person worship services remain prohibited, with the exception of worship support staff to facilitate online services, provided that staff can attend to produce audio/video services.

Update Regarding Testing and Cases in Hood County

A medical clinic in Hood County has reported the first positive COVID-19 test result for a Hood County resident this morning.

Lakeside Physicians offers phone triage and testing for COVID-19 for local residents, and they received a positive test result from earlier this week and reported to Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) this morning, in accordance with CDC and DSHS guidelines.

A Hood County resident in their 50’s was tested on March 23 because he met COVID-19 testing criteria. The patient had respiratory illness symptoms including fever, cough, and congestion, and had recently returned from an overseas cruise. The patient was notified after returning home that another cruise passenger was tested positive for COVID-19, so the patient self-reported, was tested, and sent home with COVID-19 self-isolation guidelines.

The patient is responding to self-care and remains isolated with family members. The patient and family are in daily contact with medical personnel, and they are being treated appropriately based on his symptoms.

Hood County COVID-19 test status update as of 11:00 a.m. today:

  • Lake Granbury Medical Center has tested 25 patients, 21 pending, 4 negative.
  • Lakeside Physicians has tested 39 patients, 1 is positive, 9 negative, and 29 are pending.
  • All were tested through private labs.

Governor Abbott released updated guidelines to hospitals and healthcare facilities on March 24, mandating reporting of all COVID-19 tests performed across the state including private labs, so expect testing numbers across Texas to increase with better tracking and reporting.

For the most current information on COVID-19 guidance for individuals, businesses, and health care facilities, the CDC and DSHS webpages remain the best sources. DSHS updated their website yesterday to include a county-by-county tracking map: https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/
