The Granbury City Council named Brawner Intermediate School Student Council President Remi Chastain an Honorary Councilmember at the November 6, 2018 City Council Meeting in recognition of her academic excellence, leadership, and representation of the qualities of an excellent councilmember.
Remi is eleven years old and in 5th grade at Brawner. She has been in student council for the past 3 years and is currently serving as president. At Brawner, Remi also participates in the Miler’s Club, Music Program, and GT Program. She is an “A” Honor Roll student with Excellent Citizenship and currently has perfect attendance at Brawner since the beginning of 3rd grade. Her favorite subject is math, and she loves assignments that involve creativity and originality.
Outside of school, Remi is a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in which she participates in the Children’s Choir, Plays, Programs, and Youth Activities. Remi also participates in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF). She qualified for the TAAF Games of Texas State Meet in swimming, track, and gymnastics. she won gold in the Girls 10U Breaststroke, which qualified her for the national meet next summer in Virginia. In addition to swimming, she took home the gold medal in floor routine, and was a top 10 finisher in the high jump.
Remi enjoys spending time with her family. She loves playing with her dogs, swimming, wakeboarding, jumping on the trampoline, snow skiing, and watching movies.
The Granbury City Council will continue to recognize exceptional students involved in student council from different schools in the Granbury Independent School District at future City Council meetings.
