[ARCHIVED] Community Invited to Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on May 12

Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony

To lead into National Police Week, the Granbury Police Department and Friends of Memorial Lane are hosting a Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony Saturday, May 12 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the Law Enforcement Monument at Memorial Lane (561 N Travis St.).

The ceremony will honor fallen officers and bring together members of the local law enforcement that serve our community. All are welcome to attend.

Ceremony Program

  • Opening Prayer – Officer Richard Branum
  • Roll Call of Local Fallen Officers – Sheriff Roger Deeds
  • Playing of Taps – Tolar High School Student
  • Lowering of Flags – Anna Miller and Katie Mclean
  • Recognition of the Fallen Officers in 2017 – Chief Mitch Galvan
  • Roll Call for the 16 Fallen Texas Officers – Chief Mitch Galvan
  • Poem – John Miller
  • Placing Wreath – Chief Deputy Steve Smith
  • Presentation –  Julia Pannell
  • City Proclamation – Mayor Nin Hulett
  • Closing Prayer – Laura Miller Fisher

In 1963, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. National Police Week runs Sunday, May 13 through Saturday, May 19 of this year.
