[ARCHIVED] GPD Certifies Instructors to Teach Active Shooter Response Course

The Granbury Police Department recently had three instructors certified to teach the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course. This means the certified instructors can teach the CRASE course to the Granbury community for free.

The Granbury Police Department has been providing another model of active shooter training to churches, businesses, and schools at no cost for several years, but will now be instructing based on the CRASE program.

The CRASE program was created by Texas School Safety Center’s Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) program. In 2013, ALERRT at Texas State was named the National Standard in Active Shooter Response Training by the FBI. The CRASE course provides strategies, guidance, and a plan for surviving an active shooter event.

Any local business, church, school, or organization that would like to receive this invaluable training from the certified instructors in the Granbury Police Department at no cost, please contact Sgt. Cris Brichetto at 817-573-2648 or cbrichetto@granbury.org.

Learn more about the CRASE course at www.alerrt.org/page/CivilianResponse and about ALERRT at https://alerrt.org/page/about.
