GVFD's Carter Chance Recognized for Exceptional Service in Emergency Response

When Carter Chance joined the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department in May 2023, he hit the ground running. He hasn’t stopped since. 

In 2024, Carter was named “Rookie of the Year,” an award given to a first-year volunteer who demonstrates outstanding initiative, skill, and service. His positive impact was immediate and widely recognized by both leadership and fellow firefighters.

Carter’s commitment doesn’t end at the firehouse. He was also named Hood County’s “Telecommunicator of the Year,” one of the highest honors for emergency communications professionals. This award highlights Carter’s excellence in managing emergency calls, coordinating rapid response, and staying calm under pressure, all while ensuring that life-saving information reaches first responders when seconds count.

Carter exemplifies the professionalism and compassion that define the best in public service. His contributions are making a real difference by strengthening the safety net that protects us all. The City of Granbury congratulates Carter for his incredible dedication to the Granbury community.
