David Southern was first elected Mayor in 1995, after having served for nine years as a city councilperson including four years as Mayor-Pro-Tem.  Mayor Southern works in his own business, bringing a strong business philosophy to City Government.  Mayor Southern refers to himself as a City volunteer, giving his time and energy to leadership of the City Council, and as a mentor to the City Staff.  Having served for a number of years, his background in the history of City operations has proved to be invaluable to City Staff.  Mayor Southern believes that City Government is about providing a Quality of Life superior to that outside the City.  “The greatest challenge Granbury faces is managing growth while maintaining the Quality of Life that brought most of us to live in Granbury.  The future of Granbury is bright, but we must vision and plan for the future on a continuing basis.”  Mayor Southern’s leadership and vision for the future and his persistence bode well for the City’s future.  Mayor Southern can be contacted by email:
