1. What are the hours for City Hall ?

City Hall is open from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday - Friday.

2. When and where are the City Council Meetings held?

City Council Meeting are held in the City Council Chambers upstairs in City Hall located at 116 W. Bridge St. They are usually held on the First and Third Tuesdays of each month. The meetings are open to the public and start at 6pm.

3. Where do I get a marriage license or birth certificate?

This information can be found at the County Clerk's office at Annex 2 located at 201 W. Bridge St. The phone number is 817-579-3222

4. Where is the Visitors Center located?

The Visitors Center is located in the east end of the City Hall building across from the First National Bank Drive-thur. The Visitors Center hours are Monday-Wednesday 8am-5pm., Thursday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 12noon-4pm. The Visitors Center phone number is 817-573-5548.

5. Where is the Granbury Resort Conference Center?

The Granbury Resort Conference Center is located at 621 E. Pearl St next to the City Beach. The phone number for visitor information is 682-936-1200.

7. Are the shops open on the town square on Mondays?

Yes, the shops are open all thru the week.

8. Where can I find information on local history?

You can find local history on our city website under History and Legends.
The Visitors Center also has printed information that you can pick up for free.
Many of the shops on the town square also have printed information available for purchase.

9. How do I contact Animal Control?

To contact Animal Control inside the City Limits call 817-573-2648.
To contact Hood County Animal Control located at 240 Bray Street call 817-573-4277.

10. Does the City have a dump site?

No. There is not a dump site in Hood County. The County opperates The Hood County Collection Station. The phone number is 817-579-3288. Call for open hours and information on what they will take and if any fees apply.

11. Where can I take brush?

The Hood County Brush drop-off site is located at 1510 Weatherford Hwy/ 51 N and is open on Wednesdays only, from 8-12noon. The site is 1 1/2 miles from the railroad tracks north of the town square behind the AT&T building on the left.

12. Where do I call to change a car/boat title?

The Auto/Boat Registration Office is located at Hood County Annex 1 at 1410 W. Pearl St. The phone number is 817-579-3295.

The Hood County Fire Marshal Office is located at 210 W. Bridge St. in Annex 2. The phone number is 817-579-3335.

Accident reports are generally ready in 4-5 business days. The cost of an accident report is $6.00. Please call the Police Department non-emergency phone number at 817-573-2648 to determine whether your report is ready.

Preventing Family Violence

1. What is a family protective order?

A family protective order is a legal remedy for the use and protection of victims of family violence. Family violence means the intentional use or threat of physical force by a member of a family or household against another member of the family or household.

Family includes individuals related by blood or marriage, i.e., spouses, ex-spouses, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters, parents, children, etc. Household means a unit composed of persons living together in the same dwelling, whether or not they are related to each other.

2. How do I obtain a family protective order?

You can obtain a family protective order by filing an application with the District Court in Hood County. You will probably need the services of an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, you may be able to obtain a lawyer through Lawyer Referral Services.

The resources of the Hood County Criminal District Attorney's Office are limited and can only be used as a last resort after attempts to hire a private attorney or to obtain legal aid have been unsuccessful.

3. Will a family protective order prevent family violence?

A family protective order can deter violence and provide the police and courts additional authority to intervene in family violence cases and to punish those who commit family violence, but is not a shield that truly stops the next violent act from occurring.
