Winter Weather Update

Friday, Jan. 23 Noon

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday (Jan. 23) through noon Sunday for Granbury. Dangerous winter weather is expected, and residents should begin preparing now.

The storm may bring a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Ice accumulation could range from ¼ to ½ inch, with isolated areas seeing up to ¾ inch of ice. Snow and sleet totals of 1–3 inches are expected, with higher amounts possible near the Red River.

Strong winds combined with heavy ice and snow may break tree limbs and down power lines, leading to sporadic or widespread power outages. Some outages could last an extended period. Residents should plan for the possibility of limited electricity and heat.

City of Granbury customers: to report power outage or water leaks, please  call 817-588-0488

Road conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly. Travel may become extremely dangerous or impossible, especially during periods of ice accumulation. Residents are strongly encouraged to delay all non-essential travel.

Have an emergency kit ready in case of power outages. Include: flashlights and extra batteries, warm clothing and blankets, water and non-perishable food, medications and a basic first-aid kit

Please check on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may need assistance.

If travel is unavoidable, use extreme caution and carry a winter travel kit, including: blankets and extra clothing, water and snacks, flashlight and phone charger, booster cables and basic emergency supplies
