Council discusses B&B rules

During their January 4, 2022 meeting, Councilmembers deliberated on items 8.2 and 8.3 which considered the approval of two requests to allow an un-hosted Bed & Breakfast at two Granbury addresses. It is a multi-faceted issue that includes balancing commercial versus residential uses, property rights, the outcome of current litigation, neighborhood values, tourism and other considerations.
Although both items passed on 5-1 votes, during the discussion councilmembers agreed that moving forward they would like City Staff to stay focused on the possibility of modifying current City ordinances to reflect the desired future balance, once the Supreme Court settles the short term rental lawsuit against the city of Arlington. City staff and committees have already began working on possible viable options to be prepared for the outcome of the Arlington lawsuit.
